Pakistan and Egypt Strengthen Defense Cooperation

Pakistan and Egypt have pledged to deepen their defense and security cooperation. The agreement was made during an official visit by Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty. He met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The two sides discussed ways to enhance military relations and strategic partnership.

During their meeting, both countries agreed to strengthen military-to-military engagement and expand training collaboration. They also emphasized the need for greater cooperation in security matters. The discussions focused on boosting bilateral ties and ensuring regional peace and stability. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other in defense and security challenges.

The Egyptian foreign minister expressed Egypt’s warm regards for Field Marshal Asim Munir and highlighted Cairo’s interest in further cooperation with Pakistan. He stressed the importance of high-level engagements to foster stronger ties. Both sides also exchanged views on the evolving regional security situation, with a focus on promoting peace in the Middle East and South Asia.

Additionally, Egypt’s Foreign Minister expressed hope that Pakistan would contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza. Speaking at a joint press conference with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, he urged Pakistan to participate in the upcoming international conference on Gaza’s recovery. This cooperation aims to address the humanitarian and rebuilding needs of the region.

Both foreign ministers acknowledged the grave situation in Gaza. They expressed mutual concerns over regional developments and discussed ways to collaborate on addressing the crisis. The discussions underscored the importance of international support for Gaza’s recovery and highlighted Pakistan’s potential role in the reconstruction efforts.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty. During the call, both leaders strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Qatar.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two foreign ministers expressed deep concern over Israel’s unprovoked and illegal strikes on Doha. They stressed that such actions pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
